Town Rebuilds, Goes Green

Have you caught the Greensburg show on the new Planet Green channel? It’s a fascinating documentary on the town of Greensburg, KS, which was virtually wiped out by a tornado and has made the decision to rebuild the town as a "green" town, taking advantage of their opportunity to rebuild from the ground up. The first episode was primarily on the tornado and massive destruction it caused, the second on their first steps toward rebuilding -- including a visit to GreenBuild, discussion of LEED and sustainable planning.

You might wonder just how interesting all this is beyond the disaster, but it is. The show introduces viewers to the town's people and really gets involved in their lives, as well as provides a close-up look at sustainable planning. There are 15 parts in all. It's showing on the Planet Green channel, and exclusive webisodes are available on the website. I highly recommend it!
