BASF AND DOW TO CONDUCT JOINT FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR TDI FACILITY IN EUROPE
BASF, Ludwigshafen, Germany, and The Dow Chemical Co., Midland, MI, have announced a decision to conduct a joint feasibility study for the construction of a state-of-the-art production plant for toluene diisocyanate (TDI) and precursors at one of their integrated sites in Europe. The plant would have an annual capacity of 300,000 metric tons and would be the world’s largest such facility ever built. The study will take into consideration such factors as location, best technology and infrastructure. Should the project prove viable, the facility would start operations in 2011.

CHARLES ROSS AND SON CO. INTRODUCES NEW HIGH-SPEED DISPERSER
This company recently announced the availability of a new model in its line of High Speed Dispersers. The new model includes several unique features that enable its use in controlled environments. A dust tight cover with enclosed charging openings contains solids to the mixing vessel. The model also includes fixed connections for the charging of raw materials direct from bulk solids transfer systems. Other features include: 100 psi air/oil hydraulic lift to raise and lower the dispersion head; stainless steel wetted parts; air-operated diaphragm pump to discharge mixed material from the vessel; non-sparking caster wheels on mix vessel; and a special charging hopper. This new system may be used for the dispersion of solids, such as fumed silica, calcium carbonate, titanium dioxide, gums, thickeners and pigments. The hydraulic lift design is available in a range of sizes from 5 through 100 hp. Fixed tank models are offered through 200 hp.

HENKEL ANNOUNCES CHANGES TO MANAGEMENT BOARD
Henkel, Düsseldorf, Germany, has announced that Ulrich Lehner will resign from the office of chairman of the Management Board in April. Lehner has been with Henkel since 1981 and has served in his current position since May 2000. The company’s Shareholders’ Committee appointed Kasper Rorsted, executive vice president Human Resources/Purchasing/Information Technologies/Infrastructure Services, as deputy chairman of the Management Board effective Jan. 1. Rorsted will be appointed chairman following the 2008 Annual General Meeting.

RPM ACQUIRES DANE SPECIAL EFFECTS COLORANTS BUSINESS
RPM International Inc., Medina, OH, has announced its acquisition of the daylight fluorescent, phosphorescent and thermochromatic pigments business of The Dane Group. Located in Manchester, England, The Dane Group has annual revenues of approximately $20 million. Terms were not disclosed. “Dane will operate as a stand-alone entrepreneurial business within our Day-Glo Group of companies, and will continue to be led by Operations Manager Fintan McGrath and his capable management team,” said Stephen J. Knoop, RPM’s senior vice president – Corporate Development. “This acquisition furthers our position as a global supplier of bright special effects colors, and we anticipate that Dane will be accretive to our earnings during its first year.”

SARTOMER CO. ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENTS
Sartomer Co., Exton, PA, has announced the appointment of Alan Pape to the position of business development manager, where he will be responsible for developing new business and markets for the specialty polymers division of Sartomer.
