3M ACQUIRES INDUSTRIAL ADHESIVES PRODUCT LINE FROM CHEMENCE
3M, St. Paul, MN, has announced its acquisition of the Rite-Lok global industrial adhesives product line from Chemence Inc. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. “The addition of Chemence’s industrial adhesives, sold under the Rite-Lok brand, broadens our robust industrial adhesives production portfolio,” said Patrick Deconinck, division vice president, Industrial Adhesives and Tapes Division. “The widely recognized Rite-Lok brand complements 3M’s product line and expands the depth and breadth of our offering in the area of specialty structural adhesives.”
ADCO GLOBAL NAMES KNOX PRESIDENT & CEO ADCO Global, Chicago, IL, has named John Knox as its president and CEO. Knox will replace Boyd Wainscott, ADCO’s current CEO. Knox previously served as president and COO of Sovereign Specialty Chemicals until its sale to Henkel Corp. in December 2004, and he has more than 20 years of experience in the specialty chemicals industry, with a specific focus on the adhesives and sealants segment. “I look forward to working with the ADCO Global team and staying involved in the specialty chemicals industry,” Knox said. “I am excited about ADCO Global’s opportunities for growth and its prospects for the future.”

I&J FISNAR OFFERS AIR-FREE BARREL LOADERS This company has announced the availability of a selection of barrel loaders that efficiently transfer material from bulk containers to syringes and barrels. Barrel loaders are available for 1/10th
gal and 12 oz cartridges. A piston is inserted into the syringe before loading and the syringe is connected to the syringe docking connector ready for fill. As the syringe is filled from the needle end, the piston travels ahead as the material enters the syringe, resulting in an air-free fill. The model DSP501A Dispenser Controller is recommended to complete an automatic load system. Upon activation of a foot switch, the DSP501A sends a timed air pulse to the cartridge containing the bulk fluid. The cartridge is evenly subjected to the air pressure pulse, resulting in consistent loading of multiple syringes. The result is precise loading with higher production yields and operator
comfort.
M&C SPECIALTIES INTRODUCES NEW SPOOLING CAPABILITY FOR TAPE AND FILM MANUFACTURERS M&C Specialties Co., Southampton, PA, has announced the introduction of an innovative spooling technique that optimizes the adhesive application process and improves both assembly and overall product performance. The company says its high-tech spooling capability allows it to level wind high-quality adhesive tapes onto a wide, traverse-wound roll, thus replacing multiple smaller rolls with a single spool. As a result, production rates increase as fewer line stoppages for changing tape rolls occur; process waste is decreased by eliminating the frequent short ends inherent in using standard rolls; and material usage yield increases.
