ASC AND ASMAC CO-SPONSOR FUNDAMENTALS OF ADHESION SHORT COURSE
The Adhesive and Sealant Council (ASC) has announced that it will co-sponsor a Fundamentals of Adhesion Short Course with the Adhesives and Sealants Manufacturers Association of Canada at the Renaissance Toronto Airport Hotel June 7-8. The course will provide a comprehensive introduction to the principles of adhesion science. Led by professors from Virginia Tech, this two-day short course will address various topics, including: basic stress distributions in important bonded joint families; advantages and disadvantages of different test geometries; prediction of long-term performance through short-term tests; environmental factors and their effect on adhesive durability; and more.

ADHESIVES RESEARCH NAMES NEW PRESIDENT
Adhesives Research Inc., Glen Rock, PA, has promoted Geoff Bennett to the position of president. Bennett succeeds Kären M. Olson, who served as president and CEO of Adhesives Research for more than three years. Bennett joined Adhesives Research ten years ago at its United Kingdom office. From there, he went on to Limerick, Ireland, to serve as president of Adhesives Research Europe, where he was responsible for the start-up and profitable growth of the company’s Limerick facility. In 2005, he relocated to the corporate headquarters in Glen Rock and was promoted to vice president and general manager of the ARcare® division.

ASYMTEK SELLS 1000TH CONFORMAL COATING SYSTEM TO SIEMENS AUTOMATION AND DRIVES
Asymtek, Carlsbad, CA, has announced the sale of its 1,000th Century® Series conformal coating unit in Europe to Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D) Equipment Plant Erlangen (GWE) in Germany. Siemens A&D, a recent recipient of Produktion magazine’s 2006 “Factory of the Year” award, selected the Asymtek system because its patented dispensing technology provides precise, mask free, and uniform deposition of conformal coating, which is required for the protection of the electronics of their motion control systems. Siemens added Asymtek’s Century C-740 Series Selective Conformal Coating System, configured with the Viscosity Control Process Module, the Laser Fan Width Process Control Module and the patented non-atomizing SC-100 Film Coater to furnish their Erlangen plant’s conformal coating lines.

HUNTSMAN ADVANCED MATERIALS UNVEILS SILVER-FILLED EPOXY ADHESIVE
Huntsman Advanced Materials has introduced a one-component, silver-filled epoxy adhesive that combines high electrical and thermal conductivity with good bond strength. Araldite 7047 epoxy adhesive is a high-purity, 100% solids system designed for void-free bonding of circuitry and microelectronic chips to printed circuit boards. The high-speed dispensable material features an extended work life of up to four days at room temperature and cures in one hour at 165°C (329°F). Araldite 7047 is also formulated without solvents or viscosity diluents to reduce potential outgassing.

NETZSCH FINE PARTICLE TECHNOLOGY NAMES NORTHEAST REGIONAL MANAGER
NETZSCH Fine Particle Technology LLC, Exton, PA, has named Gregory S. Stevens as its northeast regional manager. Stevens will manage all aspects of NETZSCH customer relationships in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New York, as well as eastern Canada. SARTOMER CO. NAMES NEW PRESIDENT

Sartomer Co., Exton, PA, has named Dr. Luigi Colantuoni as president, replacing Nicholas Trainer, who retired after 37 years with the company.
