ASI ANNOUNCES EXPANDED POLYMERS RESOURCES As part of its new expanded coverage of polymers this year, ASI magazine is pleased to announce a partnership with GEM-Chem, Brussels, Belgium, to offer GEM-Chem’s Polymers Library on the ASIwebsite. This valuable resource
consists of articles on the synthesis, processing and production of polymers. It also includes newsreels updated daily, global capacities of plastics, and several articles on management topics. New articles are added to the site on a monthly basis. “We feel this resource will be a valuable addition to our magazine’s online content,” said ASI Publisher Sue Love. “Readers will benefit from the depth of information that can be found on the site.” In addition, look for coverage of polymers in the form of a special report in the June issue of ASI, as well as in the December Buyers’ Guide.

DOW CORNING NAMES COUGHLIN MANAGER FOR CONSTRUCTION AND XIAMETER MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS Dow Corning Corp., Midland, MI, has named Stacy Coughlin as the new global marketing communications and e-business manager for two Dow Corning industries — XIAMETER® and Construction. In this role, Coughlin will oversee the creation and implementation of marketing communication strategies for the two industries, and will work to strengthen and expand Dow Corning’s commercial online capabilities.
INTELICOAT APPOINTS LUPONE PRESIDENT AND CEO InteliCoat Technologies, South Hadley, MA, has announced the appointment of Joseph A. Lupone as president and CEO. Lupone has more than 20 years of experience in general management, with an extensive background in senior executive sales and marketing roles. Most recently, Lupone served as president of Reflexite Display Optics, a division of Reflexite Co., a manufacturer of optical films to the LCD flat panel display industry.
IPC NAMES LABRIOLA ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE OF TRADE SHOW SALES IPC – Association Connecting Electronics Industries®, Bannockburn, IL, has announced that Maria Labriola has joined the company as an account executive. In this new position, Labriola is primarily responsible for trade show sales for the new IPC Midwest Conference and Exhibition. She most recently served as a trade analyst for the Italian Trade Commission in Chicago.
LANXESS OFFERS NEW SOFT TOUCH RESINS BROCHURE The Lustran Polymers business unit of LANXESS Corp. now offers a full-color brochure that highlights the features and benefits of its new Soft Touch resins. Soft Touch resins include Lustran® ST4566 for interiors and Centrex®
ST4766 for exteriors. These resins are ideal for sheet extrusion applications that require luxury and durability, such as interior parts of trucks, buses, and cars, as well as exterior areas of boats, farm equipment, and construction vehicles. Both materials have been primarily designed for use in applications where they are co-extruded or laminated over an ABS substrate, with the purpose of providing a low-gloss look and soft-touch feel.
RADTECH ANNOUNCES NEW PRESIDENT, BOARD MEMBERS RadTech – The Association for UV and EB Technology, Chevy Chase, MD, has announced its new president and board members. Petra L’Abbe of PPG Industries will assume the presidency for a two-year term. RPM APPOINTS NANCE TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS RPM International Inc., Medina, OH, has announced that its board of directors has appointed Frederick R. Nance to Class III of the company’s board of directors. The company also announced that Max D. Amstutz has retired from the board after 12 years of service. Nance’s term will expire in 2008, at which time he will stand for re-election to the board by the company’s stockholders.
UNIVAR TO ACQUIRE CHEMCENTRAL Univar N.V., Rotterdam, the Netherlands, has announced that its U.S. subsidiary, Univar USA, has entered into an agreement to acquire 100% of the shares of CHEMCENTRAL Corp. for approximately $600 million in cash, including assumed debt. On a pro forma basis, combined consolidated revenues for Univar N.V. and CHEMCENTRAL for calendar 2006 would have been approximately $8.0 billion. The transaction is expected to be accretive to earnings in the first full year of ownership.
