C.A. LITZLER DESIGNS FLOTATION DRYER SYSTEM FOR CHEMSULTANTS C.A. Litzler Co. Inc., Cleveland, OH, has announced the development and construction of a new PERFECT FLOAT® flotation dryer system for Chemsultants International, Mentor, OH. The project consists of new dryers for two coating lines. The first is a 30-ft. dryer with three zones, and the second is a 10-foot single-zone dryer. The dryer modules are also flexible enough to accommodate future rolls for an arch dryer or single-sided airfoil flotation.

CHEMCENTRAL AND HEALTH NATURAL SOLUTION FORM STRATEGIC DISTRIBUTION ALLIANCE CHEMCENTRAL, Bedford Park, IL, has announced a strategic alliance with Health Natural Solution to distribute its line of natural ingredients for Personal Care and Cosmetic formulations. Through Health Natural Solution’s proprietary manufacturing process, the natural bioactive components of aloe vera are concentrated, thus delivering greater biological activity and better results than common aloe vera materials. Dow Chemical Co. shares rose nearly 5 percent last Monday after a British newspaper reported that a group comprised of Middle Eastern investors and U.S. buyout firms was preparing a bid for the company. The Sunday Express reported that the group has secured financing for a $50 billion bid for the Midland, MI-based chemicals company, which would lead to the biggest leveraged buyout ever. The Express
reported that the investment team, which includes private equity firm Kohlber Kravis Roberts & Co., is preparing a bid of $52 to $58 per share. Dow Chemical’s stock jumped $2.16 to $46.63 in late trading on Monday, April 2. Dow Chemical has since said it has not discussed a leveraged buyout.

SOLUTIA EXPANDS DOWD AND GUILD DISTRIBUTION SALES CONTRACT Solutia Inc., St. Louis, MO, has expanded its distributor sales contract for Butvar® PVB resins and aqueous dispersions with Dowd and Guild Inc., San Ramon, CA, to include the states of Utah, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and New Mexico. Dowd and Guild currently represents Solutia’s Specialty Additive products in California, Arizona and Nevada, and manages the order fulfillment of Butvar PVB resins from its warehouse in City of Commerce, CA.
