3M Acquires ACE Product Line from BD (7/28/09)

3M has announced that it recently acquired the ACE ® branded (and related brands) elastic bandage and supports product lines and thermometer product line from BD TM (Becton, Dickinson and Co.). Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The foundation of the ACE brand dates back to 1914 when BD began manufacturing elastic bandages in the U.S. ACE brand products are designed with the latest materials and techniques to help provide consumers with the optimal support they need while assuring proper fit, comfort, and value.

ACE products are sold broadly through consumer channels, including drug stores, mass merchandisers, grocers and sporting goods stores in North America.

“ACE is a great extension of our consumer products portfolio," said Dr. Gabi Sabongi, vice president, R&D and New Business Ventures of 3M Consumer and Office Business.
