Avery Dennison Corp.

Avery Dennison Corp., Pasadena, Calif., announced that commercialization has begun on its newest pressure sensitive coater in Greenfield, Ind. The new wide-web coating line represents a part of the company's $35-million investment in its materials operation in Greenfield. The operation has more than doubled its production capacity with the addition of the high-speed, precision adhesive-coating line.

Eastman Chemical Co.

Eastman Chemical Co., Kingsport, Tenn., has announced plans for an expansion of its crude tall oil fractionation unit in Franklin, Va., and the shutdown of the company's fractionation and rosin ester units in Savannah, Ga. The expansion of the Franklin facility to approximately 100,000 tons per year and the shutdown of the Savannah site will restructure Eastman's fractionation operations to a more efficient, single site. The actions are scheduled to occur in 2003.

Hockmeyer Equipment Corp.

Hockmeyer Equipment Corp., Harrison, N.J., has named Abernathy-Thomas Engineering Co., Kingsport, Tenn., as a representative of its milling, mixing and dispersing equipment. Territorial responsibilities include Tennessee, South Carolina and the Western portion of North Carolina. Hockmeyer has also named Classic Process Equipment, Lakeland, Fla., as a representative of its equipment in the state of Florida.

Plasticolors Inc.

Plasticolors Inc., Ashtabula, Ohio, a supplier of pigment and chemical dispersions to the paint, coatings, caulk, sealant and plastics industries, has selected Chemroy Canada Inc. to promote and distribute its products in Canada.

PVA (formerly known as Precision Valve and Automation), Halfmoon, N.Y., has been awarded its second consecutive Service Excellence Award from Technology Forecasters and Circuit's Assembly magazine. This award recognizes PVA's performance in the area of customer service, as voted on by its customers. Companies were rated by their customers in areas of technology, dependability, ease of use, responsiveness and value.

Superior Materials Inc.

Superior Materials Inc., Garden City, N.Y., has been awarded the Degussa Fumed Silica Distributor Award for outstanding sales performance in 2000 and 2001. Superior Materials has represented Degussa since 1989.
