This company has introduced a tough masking tape for protection of delicate gold or rhodium finger contacts during the hot-air-leveling and wave-soldering processes. Providing exceptional durability and low static characteristics, Scapa 657 is a specially treated paper laminated to a polyester film and coated with a silicone adhesive that allows the tape to withstand elevated temperatures of nearly 500ºF (260ºC) without leaking. During the hot-air-solder leveling operation, the product protects finger connectors against chemical solvents, solder and rinse water. After processing, the tape will detach from the substrate cleanly and easily, leaving no adhesive residue. It performs well in both horizontal and vertical hot-air-leveling machines.
