BLACKSBURG, Va. – The 23rd Annual Adhesion Society Meeting will be held February 20-23, 2000, at the Kingston Plantation Resort in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Sessions at the conference will be held on a range of topics relevant to adhesion science. In addition, the Particle Adhesion Division is sponsoring several sessions. There will also be a Vendor Exhibition for equipment suppliers and publications.

There will be a Short Course on Adhesion Science preceding the meeting on February 18 and 19. The course offers presentations from a group of industrial and academic experts, and is designed for those who are new to the field or who would like a refresher course.

During the conference, the Adhesion Society Award for Excellence in Adhesion Science will be presented to P.G. DeGennes of the College de France in Paris. The award is sponsored by the 3M Co. Dr. DeGennes, a trained physicist, has been working in adhesion science and related aspects of polymer physics for many years. He has written Scaling Concepts in Polymer Physics and has been a leading theoretical expert relating to polymers at surfaces, diffusional phenomena and reptation dynamics applied to polymers. His papers are among the most widely read in the polymer community.
