CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- BASF Corp. announced that an employee-driven charitable fund established to assist the families of police, fire and emergency service workers lost in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in New York has surpassed the $1 million mark. The fund was established in the United States and has expanded to include BASF's global operations, with all employee donations matched by the company. BASF is the North American unit of Germany-based BASF AG.

The company selected the New York Police and Fire Widows' and Children's Benefit Fund (nypfwc.org) as the organization that will deliver the funds to the designated beneficiaries. The fund provides support for the families of police and fire personnel.
