Universal Instruments has opened a direct sales and support office in Brazil to increase support for its growing customer base in the region. Antonio Maia has joined Universal as regional manager, and will lead the team working from the new office located in Sao Paolo. Maia will report to Carlos Takahashi, director of Latin American Operations at Dover Corp., Universal's parent company. His first priority will be to establish Universal Instruments as a legal and operational division of Dover for Brazil. He will provide leadership to the Universal direct field engineering team and will also work closely with Universal's appointed representatives in the region. Maia commented, "This is an exciting opportunity for me to lead Universal's growth in Brazil, as the company establishes a local office to provide customer support for equipment sales, service, spare parts and training sold directly by Universal or though our assigned representatives in Brazil. I am looking forward to growing the business aggressively as activity in Latin America continues on an upward trend."
