In order to meet the growing demands of the market, Voltek LLC has increased the capacity of its Minicel polyolefin foam production and enhanced the product's capabilities. This increase has been made possible by the addition of state-of-the-art equipment, which will also enhance the breadth and quality of the Minicel closed-cell foam. Minicel is an extremely fine-celled, chemically cross-linked foam that is ideal for applications that require thicker sections of foam, and combines a smooth aesthetic feel with superior physical and chemical properties. Some of these applications include the transportation/marine, healthcare, building and construction, and sports and leisure industries. Minicel is available in a range of types, colors and densities, from 1.5 pcf to 22 pcf. Densities from 1.5 to 6 pcf are now available in both three and four-inch thickness. Voltek also offers Minicel "S" type foams, which are an excellent option for molding applications. When "S" type foams are compared with traditional cross-linked polyolefin bun foams, they have superior resistance to permanent set, are more resilient, possess high coefficient of friction, and are softer at higher densities. This last feature permits the use of high-density foams with their better physical properties while maintaining softness and conformability. All Minicel products are non-toxic and contain no CFC, HCFC, or hydrocarbon blowing agents. In addition, Minicel products do not contain any natural rubber latex, nor are they used in any manner with Voltek's processing equipment.
