MP Pumps has confirmed that it recently earned its ISO 9001-2000 certificate. The year-long endeavor required extensive updates to all procedures and work instructions to meet the updated ISO standards. The 2000 standard revisions place a heavier emphasis on measurable improvements, including monitoring customer satisfaction, management goals and continuous improvement systems. "These days, customers only want to deal with companies that have a quality standards system in place," said Nancy Mohan, ISO coordinator for MP Pumps. "Knowing that, we worked directly with a consultant to be sure we covered every base. As a result, all aspects of the manufacturing process were improved, from the beginning when an order is placed to the end when the finished product is shipped." With the new procedures in place, MP Pumps has increased efficiency and improved work methods to continuously ensure quality products. MP Pumps, a subsidiary of Tecumseh Products Company, was established in 1942 and is a leader in the design and manufacture of centrifugal pumps for a wide variety of applications.
