Venture Tape Corp. has broken ground on a major new addition at its Rockland, MA, manufacturing facility and headquarters. The $16 million expansion calls for construction of a 100,000 sq. ft. addition to Venture Tape's 134,000 sq. ft. location at 30 Commerce Road. This is the company's second significant expansion in two years, and the largest to date for the 24-year-old firm. "The addition will accommodate new capital expenditures, including two new coating lines that are needed to keep pace with production demands," says Lew Cohen, president of Venture Tape. "The remaining space will be used for finish goods processing and storage. We also have a 40,000 sq. ft. warehouse in Randolph." Major markets for the company are the building, automotive, electronics, medical and paper industries. Customers include Ford Motor Co., Volvo, Boeing, Toyota, Toshiba, General Motors, Owens Corning, Johns Manville, International Paper, and a range of smaller firms needing highly customized adhesive tapes.
