IPC- Association Connecting Electronic Industries, has announced the launch of a new website for lead free information and trends athttp://leadfree.ipc.org . The Association developed this website to assist the electronic interconnect industry in meeting worldwide lead free regulations as they develop. The regulatory section of the website includes links to European Union WEEE and RoHS regulations, as well as information regarding lead free restrictions in California, China, Korea, and Japan. At the new site, visitors will find information about the environmental and human health effects of lead in electronics, including background information and two life-cycle assessments. The website also summarizes the latest technical information on lead free solder, including results of the IPC Solder Value Products Council round robin testing. Supply chain tools such as materials declarations and the draft IPC standard on lead free labeling are on the website, as well as a comprehensive compilation of IPC lead free resources, including IPC standards for lead free electronics, peer-to-peer listserv and archives, and a schedule of upcoming IPC lead free conferences and training.
