Effective Jan. 1 or as otherwise allowed by contract, the Dow Chemical Company has raised the selling prices of many of its solvents and organic intermediates. Among the products that have been increased in North America are: Butanol, n-Butyraldehyde, 2-Ethylhexanol, 2-Ethylhexoic Acid, Isobutanol, Isopropanol, Propanol, Propionaldehyde, Propionic Acid, n-Butyl Acetate, Isobutyl Acetate, n-Propyl Acetate, and Isopropyl Acetate, which have been raised by 3 cents per pound; MIBK, MIBC, and DIBK, raised by 2 cents per pound; and Isophorone, which has increased 4 cents per pound. These increases are driven by recent strong demand and projected supply tightness in 2004. In addition, Dow has announced that its Solvents & Intermediates business will move to regular monthly pricing adjustments in 2004 across its entire product portfolio for non-contract customers.
