MIXPAC System 400 dual-cartridge system.
Dual-barrel cartridge systems such as the MIXPAC have become very popular for dispensing two-component adhesives. These systems reduce both material and hazardous waste, improve adhesive and employee performance, and increase worker safety. With these systems, two-component adhesives become as simple and easy to use as single-component adhesives along with better efficiencies and increased cost savings.

Ashby Cross has designed a conversion unit to further enhance the use of the dual-barrel dispensers. This AC200 incorporates the dual-cartridge system with a number of components to create a bench-top metering system.

The pneumatic dispense gun is mounted on a stand to allow hands-free operation. This relieves the operator, reducing fatigue and increasing productivity. The gun is configured to accept dispense and recharge signals from a foot pedal or remote timer. Depending upon the application, a number of dispensing components can be added to enhance the efficiency of the dispenser.

Manual mode allows the operator to depress a foot pedal and dispense material. Once off the pedal, the flow stops. A digital or analog timer may be added to the circuit to increase consistency and repeatability to the shot size. As with most digital devices, the dispense duration is set and displayed with a digital readout. This makes changing shot sizes for different applications simpler and repeatable. For less demanding applications, the analog timer provides a consistent shot size either automatically or through the foot pedal.

To prevent dripping from the nozzle when using thin materials, a pinch valve may be installed at the mixer tip. A timer or foot pedal operates the valve. The pinch valve also gives the system the ability to dispense sub-gram shots.

Most materials, including epoxy and urethane, can be packaged in the cartridge systems. MIXPAC offers cartridges in 50-, 200- and 400-ml total liquid volume. Ratios offered include 1:1, 2:1, 4:1 and 10:1.
