INDIANAPOLIS — National Starch and Chemical Co. was honored with an Outstanding Project Award from the Metro Indianapolis Coalition for Construction Safety (MICCS).

Between 50 and 100 contractor personnel from Facilities Maintenance Group have worked continuously on site at National Starch’s Indianapolis plant for more than eight years without a single lost-time case. In addition, the group has worked at this plant for the past two years without a single recordable incident.

“Only through a team effort has this group of contractors been able to reach this level of safety,” wrote Ronald E. Reehling Jr., senior project engineer and coordinator at the plant, on his nomination for the award. “Each contractor has its own company safety program administered by its company. National Starch and Chemical programs, policies and procedures enhance the contractor’s program.”
