Bohlin Instruments has introduced a melt tension, or "haul off," measurement apparatus that incorporates an automated spooling device for neat collection and storage of the extrudate. The new device is compatible with Bohlin's latest generation of Rosand capillary rheometers - the RH7D and the RH10D - and can be operated directly from the Rosand Flowmaster software. The automatic spooling feature avoids any tangling which might occur at high take up rates on a conventional `pinch' roller system. Interchangeable spools also allow easy management of extruded samples for other measurements such as tensile testing. Moving parts are shielded by a transparent guard for operator safety.
