HUNTSMAN OFFERS NEW MERCURY-FREE POLYURETHANE ADHESIVES

ARALDITE mercury-free polyurethanes are rapid setting, high-strength adhesives for bonding substrates such as polycarbonate, ABS, nylon and Metton® liquid molding resin with minimal surface preparation. Colored black in response to customer requests, the new products are easy to blend and have a 1:1 mix ratio by volume. The adhesives cure quickly, attaining handling strength after six hours at 77°F (25°C). Once cured, the mercury-free polyurethanes exhibit good flexibility with an elongation of approximately 250% and lap shear strength of up to 2,100 psi on primed aluminum panels at room temperature.

I&J FISNAR INTRODUCES NEW DISPENSING VALVE

The VD510 is a diaphragm valve designed for precise flow control of low-to-medium viscosity materials (under 10,000 cps). Using the stroke adjustment knob, shot sizes can be fine-tuned. The valve is small in size, weighing only 2.7 oz., and at a height of 3.1 inches it is ideal for stand-alone bench dispensing use or machine integration. The diaphragm valve design separates the wetted parts from the driving parts, therefore the valve is ideal for dispensing cyanoacrylates, electrolytes, reagents, glues, paints, solvents, alcohol and other volatile substances that may cause damage, such as erosion, to most machinery. When air pressure is applied to the valve with a standard I&J Fisnar dispenser, the valve will open and the material will be dispensed. After the dispense cycle has finished, a spring assists the valve in returning to its closed position for immediate shut-off, allowing little to no chance of material waste.

NUSIL LAUNCHES LOW-VISCOSITY THERMAL INTERFACE MATERIAL

This company has introduced EPM-2493 to its line of electronic packaging materials (EPMs). This low-viscosity thermal interface material was designed to meet the challenges of the high-temperature and high-stress operating conditions in electronic packaging. The material's low outgassing property is ideal for situations in which contamination is a concern, such as electro-optic systems. EPM-2493's low viscosity provides userswith an easy-to-dispense material that flows easily through today's dimensionally intricate electronic configurations.
