Acme-Hardesty Co. has named Wulan Gerile of West Chester, PA, Global Sourcing manager. Headquartered in Blue Bell, PA, the company is a value-added reseller of vegetable- and animal fat-based oleochemicals, derivatives, specialties, and industrial process chemicals throughout the United States. As Global Sourcing manager, Gerile will focus on sourcing, negotiating and purchasing products to support inventory and customer requirements. She will also be responsible for building and enhancing vendor relationships, and for tracking commodity price trends to maintain product costs. Gerile joined the company in 2005 as supervisor of Importation and Customs Control. She holds a B.S. in economics from the University of International Business & Economics in Beijing, China.

COGNIS ANNOUNCES ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGES

Shruti Singhal has joined Cognis' Polymers, Coatings & Inks business (PCI) as director of Global Key Account Management (GKAM). He will be based in the company's U.S. affiliate in Ambler, PA. Ina Puscasu will take over Singhal's former role as Market & Concept Development manager for Consumer Coatings. Puscasu joins Cognis from German specialty chemical company Wacker.

DOW TO BUILD NEW GLYCOL ETHERS PLANT IN CHINA

The Dow Chemical Co. has announced that it will proceed with construction of a new propylene oxide-based glycol ethers facility in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu Province, the People's Republic of China. This state-of-the-art facility is scheduled to come on line in late 2008, with an annual nameplate capacity of 120,000 metric tons. Zhangjiagang, an established and strategic site for Dow, is located on the Yangtze River approximately 200 kilometers (125 miles) upstream from Shanghai. It is centrally located to supply customers in the established markets of Japan, Korea and Taiwan, as well as a growing number of customers in China.

OMNOVA NAMES ARCHWAY SALES DISTRIBUTOR FOR WEST CENTRAL U.S.

OMNOVA Solutions has named Archway Sales of St. Louis as a distributor of its floor care and graphic arts chemicals in the West Central United States. This territory includes Kansas, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Archway will represent OMNOVA's broad floor care and graphic arts portfolios, long recognized for quality.
