EDITOR'S MEMO: An Outstanding October

This month’s issue includes our “year in review” section. The Honor Roll, our second-annual ranking of the top 10 adhesives and sealants manufacturers, can be found in our features section. We’ve also included special spotlights on several of the companies.

Dan Murad, president and CEO of The ChemQuest Group Inc., provides a 2007 state of the industry report. He forecasts modest revenue growth for the industry, due to price actions passing through raw-material increases. While oil prices are a major concern for the industry, he argues that high oil pricing may actually drive adhesives and sealants growth at a faster rate. This issue also features our “Industry Leaders Panel.” This past June, the ASC gathered executives from top adhesives and sealants manufacturing companies to share their perspectives on key topics impacting the U.S. adhesives and sealants industry. The moderated panel included Al Longstreet, VP, HB Fuller; Dave Burger, president, 3M NorthStar Chemicals; Julian Colquitt, president, Advanced Technologies, Henkel; Mike Klonne, president and CEO, Bostik; and Jim Owens, corporate VP/GM, National Starch. The dialogue included comments about green, growth, international business, and the forecast and outlook for the industry.

BNP Media Expands Its Reach

BNP Media has announced its acquisition of the Professional Services Division of Ascend Media, which includes the Food, Beverage and Packaging Group and the Gaming Group of magazines, conferences, websites, and events.

“All of the titles have been well managed by an excellent staff that has integrated print advertising, events and online media,” said Taggart Henderson, BNP Media co-CEO. “We now have robust products for any customer looking to reach each and every corner of the food, beverage, packaging, and gaming markets.”
