The Dow Chemical Co. has announced that it has declared force majeure for its Ethyleneamine Highers sourced from the U.S. Gulf Coast due to the impact of Hurricane Ike. Affected products include Heavy Polyamine X (HPA-X), Tetraethylenepentamine (TEPA) and Triethylenetetramine (TETA).

Widespread disruptions in raw material availability, power and utilities, as well as rail, road and marine transportation on the U.S. Gulf Coast have impacted Dow’s ability to return the plants to normal operations and shipments. At this time, the company is unable to determine the full impact or duration of this force majeure event. Dow will allocate available product in a manner that is fair and reasonable and in accordance with contract terms.
