Demand grows for adhesive tattoos made with medical tape.

As demand grows for Fan-A-Peel® peel-and-stick tattoos made with 3M® medical adhesive tape, a new Web site ( has been launched to refocus the Fan-A-Peel brand and serve as a direct-to-consumer sales portal. Companies can also use the site to drive brand awareness and revenue by getting closer to their customers and donors with advertising tools and bounce-back promotional programs.

An extensive portfolio of licensed collegiate products allows fans to personalize hundreds of items with wearable tattoos of various groups; tattoos for more than 100 universities and colleges, including major NCAA Division I schools, are currently available. The tattoos can be applied on skin, clothes, phones and many other surfaces.

Fan-A-Peel products are marketed by Innovative Adhesives, Cary, NC. The company has three additional product lines: A-Peel-Too, ThinSkinTM and FaceAwayTM. No water is needed for application, and, unlike the water-based products that dominate the industry, no chemicals are required to remove them. What’s more, the tattoos can be applied to virtually anything, including clothing and book bags. All products are made in the United States using patented state-of-the-art digital printing with medical tape and sophisticated die-cutting techniques.

Branding and public relations firm Articulon created the Web site. “We chose Articulon to develop the site because they took the time to understand our business, and have the expertise we needed to be successful,” says Gary Ban, managing partner of Innovative Adhesives LLC. “The launch of our new site sets in motion our strategy to reach a broader consumer base with our products.”

“We were tasked with creating a Web site that is easy to navigate with a solid sales focus,” says Articulon principal Cindy Stranad. “We want users to be able to quickly move through the purchasing process and to inspire resellers, marketing professionals, and non-profits to understand the co-branded promotional opportunities available.”

The decision to market four compelling product lines reinforces Innovative Adhesives’ commitment to engage fan bases with their favorite teams, brands and nonprofits. This flexibility allows users to show their team spirit and personalize their phones, iPods, and other products. Based on its growing relationships with some of the world’s most-visible and prominent brand names, Innovative Adhesives’ gear and skin tattoos are available for collegiate and professional sports, generic holiday-focused properties, and a line of hunting camouflage products using designs from Realtree, Mossy Oak, and Natural Gear. In addition, the company is introducing the U.S. Army digital pattern and does custom work. The company continues to expand its licensed properties and deploy products in the retail market and through its Web site. These brands, coupled with targeted marketing efforts, particularly with resellers, are core to the company’s growth strategy.
