The Aerospace Transparencies Group and the Atlanta Application Support Center (ASC) of PPG Industries’ Aerospace business have earned 2009 Supplier of the Year awards from Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. Gulfstream presents the annual awards to suppliers scoring 100% on its supplier report card in all categories of total value chain cost, quality, reliability, delivery, and product and aftermarket support. PPG Aerospace’s two awards were among 23 presented at Gulfstream’s supplier conference in June to initial-phase suppliers that provide products and services during the aircraft build phase.

“The PPG Aerospace team works hard to meet and exceed Gulfstream’s requirements, and we are honored to be recognized for putting forth that effort,” said Dave Morris, PPG Aerospace vice president and general manager for the Americas. “This is the fifth consecutive year Gulfstream has honored PPG Aerospace’s Atlanta ASC, where our people continue their commitment to continuous improvement. Our transparencies group made it a goal to receive Gulfstream’s supplier award, and this shows what can be accomplished when you have a clear objective.”

PPG Aerospace’s Atlanta ASC, in Kennesaw, GA, supplies Gulfstream with Desothane® CA 8800 high-solids topcoat and sealants. Its Huntsville, AL, and Sylmar, CA, facilities, along with the PPG subsidiary Ampaspace in Casaletto Vaprio, Italy, supply Gulfstream with windshields and cockpit and passenger-cabin windows, as well as various light lenses for OEM and replacement applications. Every Gulfstream aircraft since the Gulfstream I has flown with PPG transparencies.
