Eastman Announces Management Changes

Eastman Chemical Co. recently announced the retirement of two executives, as well as two new executive appointments. Effective February 1, 2011, Norris P. Sneed will retire as senior vice president, Manufacturing support and chief Administrative officer after 32 years of service. Sneed’s responsibilities will be assumed by other current executives.

Richard L. Johnson will retire effective June 1, 2011. Johnson is currently senior vice president, Fibers and Global Supply Chain. He has been with Eastman since 1971. Ronald C. “Eastman is indebted to Norris and Rick for their numerous contributions and many years of service to the company,” said Jim Rogers, president and CEO. “Both have had long and distinguished careers at Eastman, and have earned the respect of their colleagues. While I wish them all the best in their future endeavors, they will be missed both personally and professionally.

“We are fortunate to have someone as proven and as experienced as Ron to assume leadership of our Fibers segment. I am confident that this will be a smooth transition, and that we will continue to deliver value and provide quality service to our Fibers customers.”

Eastman also announced the executive appointments of Godefroy Motte and Michael H. K. Chung, effective January 1, 2011. They will hold key roles in executing the company’s growth strategy and emphasizing its global growth efforts.

Chung, currently vice president, managing director, Asia Pacific, is being named senior vice president, chief International Ventures officer.

“These two appointments reflect our commitment to growing in all regions of the world, especially emerging markets,” Rogers said. “Throughout their careers, Godefroy and Michael have played significant roles in many of the company’s strategic initiatives. Together they bring years of international experience that, along with their diverse perspectives and strategic thinking, will continue to serve Eastman well.”
