The American Chemistry Council’s (ACC) Responsible Care® Awards Program recently recognized Sartomer USA LLC for its outstanding contribution to improved environmental, health, safety and security performance in the chemical sector. The Responsible Care Performance award recognizes ACC member companies who have excelled at helping the ACC meet industry-wide safety and product stewardship targets. Sartomer exceeded ACC minimum requirements of a 4% improvement in the Lost Workday Incidence Rate over the previous year by achieving its company goal of zero incidents. Product stewardship summaries of all Sartomer high-priority chemicals have been made publicly available for the past two years.

The Responsible Care Facility Safety Award recognizes ACC member companies that have excelled in the area of employee health and safety, specifically awarding varying grades of certificates on a site-by-site basis. All Sartomer facilities nationwide met the criteria for the ACC’s highest award-the Certificate of Excellence, which honors those facilities with zero work-related fatalities, zero days-away-from-work cases, and zero job-transfer or restriction cases among both employees and contractors.

Although not selected as a winner, Sartomer also met the requirements to apply for both the coveted Responsible Care Initiative of the Year and Responsible Care Company of the Year awards.

“Responsible Care companies boast worker safety records that are significantly safer than the average in the U.S. manufacturing sector,” said Albert Tuccio, senior vice president of Sartomer USA LLC. “We’re proud to be one of those safety-conscious manufacturers. All of us at Sartomer are honored to be recognized by a highly regarded organization. It’s the motivation that pushes us to do even better in the future.”
