This company, a business unit of Emerald Performance Materials, has announced a new family of in-plant colorants for environmentally friendly architectural and industrial coatings. The product line, launched under a new VERDIS™ brand, offers a palette of dispersions for in-plant use that are  free of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), formaldehyde, and alky phenol ethoxylates (APEs). The new dispersions offer a wide compatibility with many resin systems, vehicles and additives.

“Our VERDIS dispersions are designed to meet and surpass the highest environmental and health standards for the coatings industry,” said Garrett Gebhardt, dispersions product line manager. “Coatings manufacturers are not only working to eliminate VOCs from their paints, but also a number of other chemicals, such as formaldehyde and APEs. Chemicals such as these, which have been effective in providing stability and preventing bacterial growth, have also been linked to certain health concerns. Our new VERDIS line of dispersions addresses these concerns while also delivering unparalleled color consistency. Characteristics such as viscosity stability, resistance to bacterial growth and free-thaw stability have not been sacrificed in order to meet the higher environmental standards.”
