The Pressure Sensitive Tape Council (PSTC) recently produced a short video to highlight some of the critical applications and uses of pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) tape used in the transportation industry. PSAs have been increasingly used in vehicles as alternatives to clips, bolts and rivets, as well as to improve the speed and ease of assembly vs. the use of liquid adhesives. PSA tape can reportedly be used to decrease weight, improve aesthetics, improve performance, and save time and money while meeting the rigorous test conditions necessary for materials used in the transportation industry.

The video explains the needs and uses of tape in automotive, and other segments of transportation are explained. In addition, examples of PSA tape testing at the Element Materials Technology Lab in Warren, MI, are shown.
