Bayer MaterialScience LLC recently announced it has received the Johnson Controls Sustainability Leadership Performance Award. Johnson Controls reportedly recognizes its top-performing suppliers annually for achievements in sustainability, innovation and automotive products, among others. Bayer supplies Johnson Controls with isocyanates, base and polymer polyols used to produce polyurethane cushioning for lightweight vehicle headrests and seats.

“It really is quite an honor to be recognized by one of the premier automotive industry suppliers,” said Bill Worms, vice president of Polyurethane Raw Material Sales for Bayer MaterialScience. “At Bayer, sustainability shapes our operations, our products and how we do business. We are happy to see our efforts align with our customers’ goals as well.”

“Bayer holds sustainability in a very high view as we do at Johnson Controls,” said Kevin Krause, global purchasing director for Chemicals at Johnson Controls. “What really made Bayer stand out from the rest of our suppliers is their participation in the Carbon Disclosure Project—they took it seriously and scored high globally, not just in the North America region.”
