Celebrating Coatings

The European Coatings Show and Congress will be held March 18-21 in Nuremberg, Germany.

The Nuremberg Exhibition Center in Nuremberg, Germany, will again welcome coatings professionals from all over the world to the European Coatings Show andEuropean Coatings Show Congress from March 18-21. At the event, coatings industry experts will share the latest market information and learn about upcoming technological and regulatory changes. Visitors and exhibitors will represent a variety of sectors, including raw materials, testing equipment, construction chemicals, and laboratory and production equipment.

ON THE SHOW FLOOR

More than 880 exhibitors and 26,000 attendees participated in the 2011 European Coatings Show. The 2013 show is expected to draw thousands of international visitors from the coatings industry. From March 19-21, exhibitors will showcase a wide spectrum of services and products, and companies will perform product presentations in the exhibit hall at scheduled times throughout the show. A sponsored pavilion for young German companies will be a new feature at the 2013 show as well.

To provide attendees with context and background information, the EC Market Navigator platform will again be available online and as an iPhone/iPad app. The EC Show Daily, FARBE UND LACK, and the European Coatings Journal will also be distributed at the show for visitors who prefer to access their information in print.

AT THE CONGRESS

On March 18 and 19, the European Coatings Congress will offer an array of technical paper presentations on an assortment of coatings-related topics, including raw materials, testing and analysis methods, process and production techniques and equipment, fundamental studies in properties and formulation, and legislation and regulation issues. Some papers will be geared toward a specific industry, while others will be aimed at a particular application.

In 2011, almost 150 papers were presented by expert speakers in 25 separate sessions. The 2013 congress will again divide the presentations into session programs covering the following topics: adhesives and sealants, coatings, printing, construction chemicals, and production technology.

From these presentations, one winner will be selected to receive the European Coatings Award for the most outstanding conference paper. The award, which is sponsored by the European Coatings Journal, consists of a sculpture and @2,000 (~ $2,585). In 2011, the European Coatings Award was presented to Marc Entenmann, Ph.D., and his team from the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation (Stuttgart, Germany) for their paper discussing the ramifications of particle size reduction in corrosion protection pigments.
