Croda to Install New Solar Energy System

Croda Inc. recently announced that it will continue with its focused efforts in the area of sustainability with the installation of solar panels at its Atlas Point manufacturing facility in New Castle, Del. The $2.3 million solar energy project, expected to be completed by year end, will be located on a 2.5 acre open area on the property, as a ground-mounted system of approximately 775 kW. The unit will reportedly generate approximately 5% of the site’s electricity. Combined with the landfill gas project completed on the site in 2012, Croda estimates the site will achieve 60% or more of its total energy from non-fossil, renewable fuel. In addition, this project with reduce the site’s annual CO2 emission by more than 1.2 million lbs.

“This project demonstrates our continued commitment to renewable energy and sustainability as a whole,” said Kevin Gallagher, president. “Croda has a global goal to obtain 25% of our energy needs from non-fossil sources by 2015, and we are excited that this project will help us achieve that goal.
