Dow Corning®US-CF 2403 resin reportedly allows manufacturers to create coatings with high heat resistance, high hardness and stain resistance. As a methyl methoxy silicone, the resin can offer an isocyanate-free, room-temperature cure without the addition of tin. The resin’s methyl groups provide low surface tension, reportedly allowing good wetting properties on a range of substrates, including metal, wood and stone.

In both clear and pigmented formulations, the resin can be used as a sole binder or in combination with organic resins. Potential applications include coatings for ovens, wood-burning stoves and chemical processing units; industrial coatings where ambient cure is required but with low demands on flexibility; and stone and glass coatings.
