Momentive Specialty Chemicals Inc. recently announced it has narrowed the potential location for its new forest product facility in Brazil to three states: Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Parana. The company reportedly expects to begin construction in the second half of the year. Construction is expected to take approximately 12-18 months. The new facility will reportedly have the resin and logistic infrastructure to support a world-scale formaldehyde plant of 150 thousand metric tons per year to service the growing panel industry in Brazil.

“We remain committed to the continued growth of our leading Latin American Forest Products Resins business,” said Dale Plante, executive vice president and president of the Forest Products Division. “Today, we operate five sites in the region, and the addition of this world-class facility to our portfolio will help us meet the increasing regional demand for our products. We appreciate the continued support of our valued customers and look forward to working with our local partners through this important site section process and beginning construction.”
