The 2010 Assembly and Automation Technology Exposition and Conference will showcase the latest trends and products in assembly and automation systems.

From September 28-30, the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill., will serve as the backdrop for one of the most comprehensive design and manufacturing events in the country. The Assembly & Automation Technology Expo (AATExpo) will take place at the convention center, but it will not be the only event in progress. In addition to the AATExpo, five other industry shows-including Design & Manufacturing Midwest, Medical Design & Manufacturing Midwest, Electronics Midwest, PlasTec Midwest, and the Green Manufacturing Expo-will take place concurrently at the center.

Attendance Advantages

The AATExpo will showcase the latest trends and products in assembly and automation systems. Suppliers will display innovative technologies for greater process efficiency and cost reduction, while technical experts will address assembly challenges and the best way to remedy possible complications. Knowledgeable professionals from almost every market division will be in attendance, and registration for one industry expo permits access to all the others at the convention center. The event will be an excellent opportunity for visitors to create business contacts and keep current with global automation technology advancements.

Over 400 exhibitors at the Expo Hall will present assembly and automation resources in such areas as adhesives, dispensing equipment, storage and retrieval systems, end-of-line packaging equipment, motors and drives, power and hand assembly tools, sensors, welding and brazing equipment, and more. The Expo is designed to be conducive to supplier comparison so that buyers can find the best fit for their needs. At the same time, exhibiting companies will be able to maximize the number of manufacturing professionals with whom they communicate as a result of the co-located shows. As an added perk, expo admission is free to qualified registrants (and Best Buy gift cards will be given out hourly!).

Complimentary Educational Opportunities

At the Lean Factory, complimentary education sessions will be provided in order to increase interest in a lean production environment. The companies of the Lean Factory Group-CMA/Flodyne/Hydradyne, Leonardo Group Americas, Bosch Rexroth, Orgatex, SSI Schaefer, Toyota, Omron STI, and Visual Workplace-will sponsor these instructional sessions, which will explain the creation of the optimal lean production process using a step-by-step demonstration.

In addition, an Innovation Briefs Theater will feature daily presentations by global industry experts. It will be located in the Expo Hall and can be accessed by registered visitors for no additional charge during the show. The sessions will last 30-40 minutes and will provide valuable information and ideas about cost savings, green technology, and other hot topics in a number of industries.

Conference Schedule

Although the complimentary Lean Factory and Innovation Briefs Theater will supply an abundance of good information, the conference program is the highlight of the AATExpo. The program is co-produced by the Institute for Operational Excellence and will outline the most important methods by which a company can create advanced stability and flow in their production processes.

A keynote address by the founder of the Institute, Kevin Duggan, will begin the sessions on Tuesday, September 28. All the sessions will be held concurrently from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Topics will include Value Stream Flow in Business or in Marketing, Creating Mix Model Value Streams, Building the Lean Supply Chain, Creating Advanced Flow, and 3P for Operational Excellence.

First and foremost, conference registrants will learn how to apply these useful tools in their own organizations, but participation offers additional benefits: registrants will gain access to all co-located expositions; networking lunches will be provided (along with coffee and refreshments during breaks); and each registrant will receive a copy of the book The Office that Grows Your Business.
