RF Code, Inc. and Avery Dennison Corp. recently held two public demonstrations of their innovative Secure Strap security monitoring and electronic seal technology at industry events. The companies showcased the product for the first time in advance of its general availability in early 2005. Delegates visiting the National Cargo Security Council's "RFID in Real Time" conference, held Dec. 5-7 in Long Beach, CA, and those attending Forrester's seventh annual "Emerging Technology Showcase," Dec. 8-10 in Scottsdale, AZ, had the opportunity to see live demonstrations of the Secure Strap, which leverages RF Code's TAVIS data management platform, active RFID technology and Avery Dennison's tamper sensor. Secure Strap consists of a radio lock (an active RFID real-time locating device) that is attached to a fiber-optic tamper sensor cable. If the cable is compromised in any manner, Secure Strap will send out a radio distress signal indicating its identification code and a tamper indication signal.
