BASF Receives CPI Innovation Award

BASF recently received the 2010 Center for the Polyurethanes Industry’s (CPI) Innovation Award for its FilterPave® porous pavement system at the center’s 2010 technical conference.

FilterPave, developed by BASF and Presto Geosystems, combines specially treated post-consumer recycled glass with a polyurethane binder to create a porous surface for use in stormwater management applications. This nearly eliminates runoff and helps replenish the local aquifer with clean, naturally filtered water.

The organization also awarded BASF’s David Bower, Ph.D., the Best Presentation Award in the CASE 1 Technical Session for “Filterpave Porous Paving System – An Innovative Hard Surface Pavement Using Post-Consumer Recycled Glass.” Steven Hicks, BASF Corp., and Bill Handlos, Presto Geosystems, also submitted and co-authored the paper.
