The new Brookfield YR-1 Rheometer has sufficient sensitivity to measure the suspension properties of fluids with extremely low viscosity. Yield stress is the technical parameter that determines this property. The YR-1 Rheometer with vane spindles is a simple-to-use, low-cost alternative to complicated, full-featured lab rheometers. It is computer programmable using EZ-Yield software on a PC to set up tests. The YR-1 can then run in stand-alone mode and give a quick pass/fail determination for a liquid's suspension property. The YR-1 may be used in the QC lab or right on the production floor. Simple, push-button operation gives production technicians the ability to make quick, repeatable QC tests with minimal training. Test results are quickly displayed as a single yield stress number.
