Celanese's Weidman Awarded SCI Chemical Industry Medal

The Society of Chemical Industry, America International Group, recently announced that David Weidman, chairman and CEO of Celanese Corp., will receive the SCI Chemical Industry Medal.

“Dave Weidman has shown tremendous business leadership in an evolving, and often volatile, global economy,” said Stephanie A. Burns, chairman of the SCI. “He led Celanese’s transformation from a German publicly traded company to an American publicly traded company and instilled in it a culture of continuous improvement, sustainability, and safety. And he navigated Celanese through the recession, continuing its global expansion and challenging the company and the industry to become more strategic and more resilient in the process.”

Weidman will be given the medal at a dinner in his honor March 13.
