LORD CORP: Oil and Gas Adhesives

Specially designed for bonding nitrile rubber (NBR ) and hydrogenated nitrile rubber (HNBR ), two new Chemlok® adhesives are reportedly environmentally resistant and easy to apply. These two new adhesives, LORD Chemlok 6450 and 6451, are covercoat adhesives designed for use over Chemlok 207 primer. An additional advantage is that these new Chemloks use new chemistries that are not CSM based. With capabilities of bonding uncured rubber-to-metal substrates during the vulcanization of the elastomer, Chemlok 6450 and 6451 can bond a variety of NBR and HNBR compounds to multiple substrates, including aluminum, brass, and grit-blasted or phosphatized steel when used in combination with Chemlok 207 primer.

“We are excited to offer a family of Chemlok products specific for the NBR and HNBR markets to our customers,” said Karen Sy-Laughner, Industrial marketing manager, Americas, LORD Corp. “We saw the oil and gas industry evolving toward a new breed of nitrile rubbers designed to withstand harsher environments. As leaders in the rubber-to-substrate adhesive market, we wanted to be proactive in developing adhesives that can not only bond these new materials but also perform well in demanding environments.”
