Arizona Chemical

Raw Material: A variety of bio-based and sustainable raw materials. New literature highlights minimum renewable content sold into the adhesives industry.
General Properties: Arizona tackifiers for adhesives allow formulators to tailor adhesive performance for an array of substrates while formulating products based on sustainable raw materials.
Applications: Adhesives for packaging, bookbinding, flooring, and construction; tapes and labels; nonwovens; and others.

Ashland Performance Materials

Raw Material: ENVIREZ® 50380 resin.
General Properties: High reactivity that supports fast line speeds. It also contains recycled materials and contributes to LEED points under Materials and Resource Credits 4.1 and 4.2.
Applications: Introduced in 2002 for use in sheet molding compound, the material can also be used in hand lay up, infusion molding and solid surface products.

Bayer - Coatings, Adhesives and Specialties Div. (CAS)

Raw Material: The CAS Sustainability brochure identifies products by application and highlights typical sustainable properties, such as HAPs-free; low-to-no-VOC or solvent-free; non-thermal cure; and durability. Only products that were TSCA listed or awaiting NOC shipment are included.
Applications: Textiles; automotive; furniture and wood; packaging; footwear and plastics; wood flooring and wood frames; and general household caulk.

Celanese Emulsion Polymers

Raw Material: Dur-O-Set® CP3220.
General Properties: This vinyl acetate/ethylene (VAE) waterborne emulsion aids the formulation of various adhesives and construction compounds with a reduced or eliminated need for added solvents or plasticizers. This leads to lower-emission products to meet VOC regulations or green-labeling guidelines.
Applications: General-purpose emulsion for use in tape-joint compound, construction adhesives, mastics, cement bonding and cement admix additives.

The Dow Chemical Co.

Raw Material: RhoplexTM PR-295 with AvanseTM technology.
General Properties: A high-performance and environmentally friendly aqueous binder. Avanse technology provides film formation that blocks stains from migrating through dry paint film and yields stain-blocking performance without the use of zinc oxide. Primers and sealers based on the PR-295 binder offer stain blocking and “bleed through” resistance over cedar and redwood. They also block stains over common interior household stains, such as those left by water damage.
Applications: Exterior and interior primers and stain-blocking sealers.

Emerald Performance Materials - Kalama Chemical Div.

Raw Material: K-FLEX® dibenzoate esters; non-phthalate plasticizers.
General Properties: K-FLEX dibenzoate esters are low-VOC, easily biodegradable, non-phthalate plasticizers that offer FDA clearance for indirect food-contact applications under 21CFR § 175.105(c), 21CFR §176.170, and 21CFR §176.180. The materials offer reduced set times and heat-sealing temperatures; increased open times and film flexibility; improved oil, grease, and water resistance; and enhanced solution viscosity.
Applications: Adhesive, mastic and caulking compounds for packaging, general-construction, bookbinding, etc. Widely used as plasticizers for PVC, PVA and other emulsion systems.

Emerald Performance Materials - Specialties Group

Raw Material: FOAM BLAST® 327 and 338 defoamers.
General Properties: Low- or no-VOC, mineral-oil-free defoamers.
Applications: Foam control in PVA, PVOH and acrylic-based adhesive formulations.

Raw Material: Color RealmTM 1211 and 1262 series zero-VOC dispersions.
General Properties: Full color palette of zero-VOC dispersions.
Applications: For tinting of water-based coatings or adhesives formulations.

Emerald Performance Materials - CVC Thermoset Specialties Div.

Raw Material: ERISYSTM GE-7, ERISYS GE-8, ERISYS GE-35, ERISYS GE-35H, ERISYS GE-60, ERYSIS GS-120.
General Properties: Zero-VOC monomers and modifiers based on natural products: castor oil, sorbitol and alcohol.
Applications: Epoxy and urethane-based coatings; PSAs and film adhesives; concrete patching compounds; bridge-decking compounds; and joint sealants.

Raw Material: EPALLOY 7200.
General Properties: Low-temperature/fast-cure specialty thermoset epoxy resin with excellent chemical and mechanical properties.
Applications: Coatings, primers and adhesives, including high-solids formulations.

Raw Material: Petro-Canada blends and packages more than 350 different lubricants, specialty fluids, and greases. The company is a leader in the development of waxes and process oils, and is the world’s largest producer of pharmaceutical-grade white oil.
Applications: Adhesives; plastics; health and beauty; pharmaceutical; and various other segments.

Pilot Chemical Co.

Raw Material: Calfoam® EA-303, ammonium laureth sulfate, 27% active, VOC- and APEO-free.
General Properties: Very efficient and biodegradable emulsifier derived from natural renewable vegetable resources. The material offers great particle size control and high stability characteristics for styrene, vinyl, and acrylic emulsion polymerizations.
Applications: Styrene-butadiene, vinyl and acrylic latex emulsion polymerizations for adhesives and sealants.

Raw Material: Calimulse® AOS, sodium alpha olefin sulfonate, 40% activity, VOC- and APEO-free.
General Properties: Biodegradable, high-purity emulsifier and wetting agent with excellent handling properties.
Applications: Polymerization of various latices used in hot-melt, aerosol and pressure-sensitive adhesives.

Raw Material: Calimulse L-22, sodium linear alkyl benzene sulfonate, 22% activity, VOC- and APEO-free.
General Properties: Biodegradable, high-purity emulsifier and wetting agent with excellent handling properties.
Applications: Polymerization of SBR, vinyl acetate, vinyl chloride, styrene and acrylic latices used in hot-melt, aerosol, and pressure-sensitive adhesives.

Raw Material: Calimulse L-30, sodium linear alkyl benzene sulfonate, 30% activity, VOC- and APEO-free.
General Properties: Biodegradable, high-purity emulsifier and wetting agent with excellent handling properties.
Applications: Polymerization of SBR, vinyl acetate, vinyl chloride, styrene and acrylic latices used in hot-melt, aerosol, and pressure-sensitive adhesives.

Raw Material: Calimulse L-50, sodium linear alkyl benzene sulfonate, 50% activity, VOC- and APEO-free.
General Properties: Biodegradable, high-purity emulsifier and wetting agent with excellent handling properties.
Applications: Polymerization of SBR, vinyl acetate, vinyl chloride, styrene and acrylic latices used in hot-melt, aerosol, and pressure-sensitive adhesives.

Raw Material: Calimulse PRS, isopropylamine linear alkyl benzene sulfonate, 93% activity, VOC and APEO-free.
General Properties: Very high active biodegradable sulfonate emulsifier with great wetting and stabilization characteristics.
Applications: Styrene-butadiene, vinyl and acrylic latex emulsion polymerizations for adhesives and sealants.  

Raw Material: Calimulse SLS, sodium lauryl sulfate, 30% active, VOC- and APEO-free.
General Properties: Biodegradable emulsifier derived from natural renewable vegetable resources with great compatibility with nonionic co-emulsifiers and excellent performance in both high- and low-pH systems.
Applications: Polymerization of PVC and styrene/butadiene latices for adhesives and sealants.

Raw Material: Calsoft F-90, sodium alkyl benzene sulfonate, 90% active, VOC- and APEO-free.
General Properties: Very high activity, biodegradable flaked/dry emulsifier with excellent wetting agent and emulsification properties.
Applications: Polymerization of SBR, vinyl acetate, vinyl chloride, styrene and acrylic latices used in hot-melt, aerosol, and pressure-sensitive adhesives.

Raw Material: Calsoft OS-45S, sodium oleic sulfonate, 45% active, VOC- and APEO-free.
General Properties: Naturally derived, biodegradable emulsifier offers excellent wetting agent with low foaming properties.
Applications: Styrene-butadiene, vinyl and acrylic latex emulsion polymerizations for adhesives and sealants.

UCAR Emulsion Systems and Monomers Products

Raw Material: EVOCARTM Latex DA 282.
General Properties: General-purpose vinyl acetate/ethylene (VAE) binder, combining outstanding end-use performance with the composition and formulation latitude needed for use in more environmentally friendly coatings. The material is certified to comply with the standards of UCAR Emulsion Systems and Monomers’ EnViaTM sustainable formulation program.
Applications: Adhesives, sealants, coatings and construction products.

Raw Material: UCARTM Latex DA 631.
General Properties: High-performance 100%-acrylic latex. It allows formulators the ability to meet the rigorous demands of interior/exterior coatings and a variety of environmental initiatives. The material has low odor, no formaldehyde and no added alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEs) surfactants.
Applications: Adhesives, sealants, coatings and construction products.

Raw Material: UCAR Latex 634.
General Properties: 100% acrylic binder, offers exceptionally high scrub resistance and excellent film formation at or below 50 g/L VOC. This polymer enhances end-use performance while simultaneously enabling formulators to meet increasingly stringent VOC regulations and enviromental initiatives. In addition, UCAR Latex 634 can be formulated over a wider range of pigment volume concentrations (PVC) in finishes ranging from flat to semigloss, providing efficient pigment binding.
Applications: Adhesives, sealants, coatings and construction products.

Raw Material: UCAR Latex 651.
General Properties: This acrylic copolymer resin is a high-molecular-weight emulsion that was developed primarily for the coatings industry. Quality performance can be obtained in both exterior and interior paints. The versatility of this high-solids vehicle is valuable from a formulating and manufacturing standpoint. Paints containing UCAR Latex 651 resin feature a combination of outstanding properties in such important performance areas as exterior durability, low-temperature film formation, flexibility, color retention, application, adhesion, blister resistance, and abrasion resistance.
Applications: Adhesives, sealants, coatings and construction products.

Raw Material: UCAR Latex 310.
General Properties: General-purpose vinyl acrylic binder for architectural coatings that combines environmental friendliness with product performance requirements.
    This product offers exceptionally high scrub resistance and excellent film formation at or below 50g/L VOC. This polymer enhances end-use performance, like touch-up properties, while simultaneously enabling formulators to meet increasingly stringent VOC regulations and environmental initiatives.
Applications: Adhesives, sealants, coatings and construction products.
