The Metcal MX-5000 Soldering, Desoldering and Rework System’s patented SmartHeat^® Technology delivers moderate fixed temperatures at variable power levels to provide a controlled soldering and rework process. The unit’s 80-watt, microprocessor-controlled power supply is nearly double the size of its predecessor and monitors and varies power according to thermal load. Incorporating a built-in power indication meter with a digital display and a bar graph that provides feedback on the status of the soldering operation, the MX-5000 offers a repeatable resource for the creation of consistent, acceptable solder joints. A programmable “PowerSave” mode removes power from the tip, saves energy and extends tip life.
