Seeing Green (4/15/09)

April 15, 2009
There's a lot of green content out there -- here's a sampling of some of the best we found.

We are putting the final touches on our May “green” issue today and shipping it out to the printer. We’ve uncovered lots of great editorial content about all things green – from green formulation to green standards and even sustainable packaging (read all about it in the May issue and on our Web site!).

We frequently also have extra material that, for one reason or another, doesn’t make the print issue. But it’s all worthwhile content. Here’s a sampling:

Forecast Earth is an excellent Web site put out by the Weather Channel that examines news and science related to the environment. Loaded with articles and videos, this site offers tips, advice and in-depth coverage of all environmental issues.

Executive Travel magazine features an article on How Hotels are Going Green for Guests. Check it out – and think about the measures you can take when you attend your next industry event.

The Empire State Building is going green, with a sustainability retrofit. The $20 million makeover project will demonstrate that buildings can effectively reduce energy use and greenhouse-gas emissions. In addition, the project will improve the building's marketability, asset value and operating costs.

Earth Day is April 22. Learn more about this important day and research activities and programs in your area.

Finally, three major universities now offer green degree programs: Arizona State University, Michigan State University and Dominican University of California.

We hope that this material is informative and inspiring. We’d love your feedback – what’s your company doing to go green? Is it formulating with renewable materials, or simply recycling office paper? Let us know with a comment or send an e-mail to mcphersont@bnpmedia.com.
