SCAPA: Cross-Hatch Gravure Coating Capability

Scapa North America has announced its ability to gravure coat adhesives in a cross-hatch pattern onto a range of substrates. This pattern coating reduces the amount of adhesive on the substrate and allows strategic areas to be left uncoated to achieve specific performance requirements. The discontinuous cross-hatch process applies a precise volume of adhesive to substrates in a repetitive pattern. The adhesive covers between 50 to 70 percent of the substrate and can be used in a range of industry applications where pattern coating is critical to product performance. For direct skin medical applications, such as dressings, wound care, surgical drapes and medical device attachment, the cross-hatch adhesive coating delivers improved breathability, fluid transmission and moisture-vapor transmission. The process assists in the control and flow of electricity and heat in thermally and electrically conductive electronic applications. The cross-hatch gravure coating capability coats widths up to 60 inches.
