The Society of Manufacturing Engineers has announced that it recently named Mark C. Tomlinson as its director of Membership. As director of Membership, Tomlinson's focus will be on strengthening member engagement opportunities through the Member Engagement Initiative (MEI), better understanding and responding to local chapter needs and interests, and working to advance the Technical Community Network (TCN) through the Manufacturing Enterprise Council (MEC). Tomlinson has been a member of SME since 1996. He served as a chair of the Manufacturing Enterprise Council of SME in 2002 and 2003, and is past chairman of the Technical Advisory Committee of the University of Michigan Engineering Research Center for Re-configurable Science.
