Solvay Names De Castro Logistics Purchasing Manager (9/29/09)



Frank De Castro has joined Solvay Chemicals Inc., Houston, TX, as Logistics Purchasing manager. As a member of the NAFTA Multi-Site Purchasing/Corporate Purchasing Network, De Castro will be responsible for negotiating supply contracts for logistics transportation, warehouses, terminals and fleet on behalf of the Solvay NAFTA operating companies.   

De Castro holds a B.S. in industrial engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and has over twenty years experience in the chemicals industry with an emphasis in the management of global transportation and logistics purchasing. 

Solvay Chemicals Inc. is part of the Solvay Group, an international chemical and pharmaceutical group with headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, whose companies employ some 28,300 people in 50 countries. In 2008, the Solvay Group’s consolidated sales amounted to EUR 9.5 billion, generated by its three sectors of activity:  Chemicals, Plastics and Pharmaceuticals.
