Tyco Plastics & Adhesives has announced the introduction of a new aerospace tape for seam sealing in aircraft cargo compartments. Polyken 296FR offers seam sealing and repair of cargo compartment liners for use on covering pins and rivets where high adhesion and flame resistance is critical. Manufactured in Bristol, RI, Polyken 296FR cargo pit tape passes Boeing, Airbus, U.S. and European flame retardant (FR) content testing. The aerospace tape meets all parameters of Boeing Material Specification BMS 5-146, covering the requirement for cargo liner joint sealing tape. Polyken 296FR does not contain polybrominated biphenyl ethers (PBDEs), abiding by the recent European Union directive (EU 76/769/EEC) eliminating certain fire retardant materials. It also features a unique construction that minimizes adhesive residue when the tape is removed.
