USA TODAY analyzed domestic airline schedule data from the Official Airline Guide for October 2008 and created a graphic showing the schedule changes at 300 U.S. airports. The data reflects what airlines had reported to OAG regarding their October schedules as of June 30. October schedules were the main focus because several airlines have announced bigger cutbacks in the fall.

The graphic is very preliminary look at how national airline service is being affected by the ongoing capacity reductions that the airlines are making to compensate for hikes in fuel prices and a slow economy.

Not all airlines’ announced changes are shown in the graphic; also, not all airlines’ October schedules have been released and could be included in the data.

Be sure to bookmark this site and come back to it often, as USA TODAY reports that the graphic will be updated.
