A Change in Household Spending?

May 23, 2013

According to a recent New York Federal Reserve study, most Americans plan to cut spending to make up for income lost from the payroll tax hike. Will you reduce your household spending this year due to the payroll tax rise?

Yes: 53.8%
No: 38.5%
Maybe/Unsure: 7.7%

Henry Ford said the accumulation of wealth has less to do with how much one makes and more to do with how much one does not spend. Unfortunately my wife finds this a completely foreign concept. So no, household spending isn't going down.

My pay has been stagnant for the last 3 years due to a poor business climate.

Absolutely. In fact I was on a knife edge financially and this pushed me off into the negative. The effect has been devastating.
